LionHeart

LionHeart is an award winning Poet, BBC Radio London Presenter and TEDx Speaker.

An honorary fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for his contribution to architecture, LionHeart’s work within the industry is extensive. He is the first Poet in Residence at Grimshaw Architects (visiting and working with various offices globally), Snohetta, Squires & Partners, PLP and practices in Japan (Junya Ishigami, Tezuka Architects and more). Using poetry, he is particularly interested in expressing the influence an architect’s design can have on mental health. Through interviewing and working closely with architects, he observes the relationship buildings have with our cognitive behaviour, and how that in turn, forms as well as informs our sense of wellbeing. These findings are then used as the basis for a collection of poems, workshops, performance pieces and commissioned articles exploring how the application of materials, form and lighting within the built environment impacts us.

Along with various residencies, he is the winner of the Davidson Prize 2021 with Haptic Architects & Squint Opera team as well as winning the Skiagraphia Prize by Architecture + Design Film Festival https://adff.ca in collaboration with Jim Stephenson. LionHeart was selected as Dezeen Awards Judge for 2020. He has been a Guest Speaker at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) at both their Copenhagen and London offices as well as the Guest Editor for the Wellcome Collection for their ‘Living With Buildings’ exhibition.

In addition to his work in the built environment, LionHeart is the first Poet in Residence at the prestigious Saatchi Gallery, exploring and creating works in response to the art work, pertaining to mental health. LionHeart has been commissioned by brands including IWC, Bentley, Warner Music Group, Lloyds of London, the BBC, the British Library and Gillette for various campaigns and performed at the Royal Albert Hall for their 150th Anniversary.

Céin McGillicuddy

Céin (pronounced ‘Keen’) is the exciting, imaginative director behind the cult, absurdist BBC/Netflix comedy series TOP COPPERS, the exquisitely observed BBC true-crime parody SEXY MURDER and the perfectly balanced tonal tightrope that is his Channel 4 comedy crime thriller pilot LAW MAN.

As his projects demonstrate, he has an extraordinarily fine tuned instinct for finding the tone and style for whatever project he undertakes, adapting and curating the perfect approach for the script and realising it with a warm, confident and thoughtful sensibility.

This ability has garnered him a reputation as a style setter that extends beyond the scripted world, being asked to take on unscripted pilots where he focuses on finding the ‘soul’ of a show and setting a tone and style that’s right for that particular project. These include THE PENG LIFE for Channel 4, SPENCER & VOGUE for E4 and IN BED WITH JAMIE for Channel 4, all of which were commissioned to series from his pilots.

This lead to Channel 4 approaching and offering him the role of showrunner for the return of GAMESMASTER, where he was solely responsible for assembling the ambitious and multilayered creative vision in how to successfully revive the iconic video gaming challenge series after 23 years, to huge critical acclaim and viewer satisfaction.

Céin lives and breathes directing, ever since his earliest B-Movie epics GATOR and GATOR 2: HE’S BACK, which he made when he was 10 and were basically just an inflatable alligator lilo going around the house eating his family. He loves working with talented writers and producers and cares deeply about every project he takes on.

He is currently developing a feature film alongside living with his girlfriend and looking after their dog, Bess. He no longer has the lilo.

Céin McGillicuddy & Andy Kinnear

Andy and Céin are the critically acclaimed co-writers and creators behind the cult BBC comedy series TOP COPPERS and the popular BBC true-crime spoof SEXY MURDER. Originally meeting at the renowned Bournemouth University Media School, Céin has gone on to become a sought-after director and Andy an accomplished editor in their own rights. This gives them a rare partnership in that they author their projects in a Coen Brothers-esque relationship as co-writers, director and editor respectively, enriching their productions with a devoted attention to detail at every stage. They are now taking their work into more dramatic realms, having recently completed a mini-pilot for Channel 4 of their dark, crime thriller comedy LAW MAN, starring Nick Mohammed, Aimee Ffion-Edwards, Philippa Dunne and Mark Addy, alongside developing two animation projects and their first feature film.
