Brendan Cowell

Brendan is an award-winning writer, actor and director for TV, Theatre and Film based between London and Australia.

He wrote and directed the ABC’s THE OUTLAW MICHAEL HOWE and scripted and appeared in the feature film SAVE YOU LEGS! Brendan was a staff writer and star of the acclaimed Foxtel TV series LOVE MY WAY, also on Channel 5. Many of his episodes for LOVE MY WAY were nominated for Australian Writers Guild Awards (AWGIE) for Outstanding Screenplay.

Brendan also wrote two episodes of the multi award-winning series, THE SLAP, for which he won the AACTA Best Screenplay prize for his episode 3 ‘Harry’. THE SLAP was nominated for both BAFTA and EMMY awards, before being remade on NBC in America. Brendan also wrote on the ABC TV adaptation of the popular children’s book MY PLACE for the same company, Matchbox Pictures.

Since then, Brendan adapted his best-selling novel, PLUM, for ABC TV, also co-producing and playing the title role, garnering various nominations as writer and actor. He is currently in development on two original TV shows with Curio and Roadshow Entertainment

Brendan’s acting credits include DUNE: PROPHECY (HBO), AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER Paramount+’s CASTAWAYS (Paramount+), GAME OF THRONES (HBO) and the upcoming X (Apple) DISPATCHERS. His on-stage credits include YERMA opposite Billie Piper (Young Vic and Off-Broadway), LIFE OF GALILEO (Young Vic), THE CRUCIBLE (National Theatre) and LADY & THE SEA alongside Alicia Vikander and Andrew Lincoln (Bridge Theatre).
