Ben Caird

Ben Caird is a British/American writer, director and producer born and raised in London. In 2011 he graduated with an MA in Filmmaking from The London Film School and moved to Los Angeles, where he lived for 10 years, before returning to London. Ben has created UK crime thriller TARGET MAN with Hero Fiennes-Tiffin (YOUNG SHERLOCK) attached in the lead role. Dimitri Doganis and Sam Tipper-Hale are producing for Raw (THE IMPOSTER, CRIME 101).

In the US, Ben’s feature script HEATSEEKER is being produced by Julie Yorn’s LBI Entertainment (HELL OR HIGHWATER) and Jamie Foxx’s Foxx Hole Productions (THE BURIAL). Ben also has projects with Paul Brooks’ Gold Circle Films (PITCH PERFECT, MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING) and Tommy Oliver’s Confluential Films (HAMLET, FANCY DANCE).

Ben created interactive audio drama WATCH DOGS: TRUTH for Audible based Ubisoft’s hit video game. Making The Guardian’s ‘Best Podcasts of the Week’ in November2024 it stars T’Nia Miller, Freema Agyeman, Gary Beadle, Russell Tovey, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and David Morrissey.

Ben is writing the adaptation and producing a feature of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM with Breakthru Films (Hugh Welchman) and Sixteen Films (Rebecca O’Brien, Jack Thomas-O’Brien). The film will use Breakthru Films’ distinctive oil-painted animation style. Co-directing are Hugh Welchman (LOVING VINCENT) and stage veteran John Caird (LES MISERABLES, SPIRITED AWAY). Clint Mansell (REQUIEM FOR A DREAM) will compose the score.

Ben’s US feature film debut as writer/director, HALFWAY, starring Quinton Aaron (THE BLIND SIDE) Amy Pietz (CAROLINE IN THE CITY) Jeff DeMunn (BILLIONS) and Marcus Henderson (GET OUT), was nominated for the Discovery Award at the 2017 BIFA’s as well as winning multiple awards in its US festival run.

Ben produced the Creative England backed debut feature of Midlands director Jon Stanford entitled LONG FORGOTTEN FIELDS, which premiered at Raindance Film Festival nominated for Best UK Feature Film.
