Jonny Blair
Writer and Director Jonny Blair was born in Paisley and grew up in rural South of Scotland. He graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2013 where he studied filmmaking and went on to write and direct his first short film.
THE GROUNDSMAN starred David O’Hara (The Departed). The film screened at multiple festivals worldwide and was nominated for three BAFTA New Talent Awards, ultimately being awarded Best Film and Best Editing. It was also awarded a Vimeo Staff Pick in 2014.
In 2015 Jonny began an MA in Directing at the National Film and Television School. Whilst there he co-wrote and directed a number of films, most notably his graduation film COME OUT OF THE WOODS that starred Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones) and Nico Mirallegro (Rillington Place). The film premiered at Camerimage Festival in Poland and secured a Royal Television Society nomination in 2018.
Jonny is currently developing various television and feature film projects. He has also recently directed episodes of the BBC’s continuing drama RIVER CITY.
