John is a Ugandan-born, London-trained writer, director, and actor whose work has made a significant impact on both UK and international stages.
As a playwright, he has been commissioned by Sheffield Theatres and English Touring Theatre and has received multiple accolades, including shortlistings for the Alfred Fagon Award for Play of the Year and The Sit Up Award, as well as being a recipient of the Peggy Ramsay Award.
In 2021, John founded Roots Mbili Theatre, where he serves as artistic director. The company has gained critical acclaim, producing and touring his work across the UK and internationally.
His plays, including Lines, Never Look Back, and Far Gone, have been performed in prestigious venues, with Far Gone being published by Nick Hern Books.
